Nei sei anni in cui i REM sono stati accasati alla I.R.S. (storica label fondata da Miles Copeland) sono usciti autentici capolavori come "Murmur", "Reckoning", "Fables Of The Reconstruction", "Lifes Rich Pageant", "Document", tutti album destinati ad essere ricordati nella storia del rock degli anni 80.
Ora il 12 settembre è in uscita "And I Feel Fine: The Best Of 1982-1987 - The I.R.S. Years": antologia retrospettiva dedicata a quel fulgido periodo, racchiude i maggiori successi estratti da quei dischi memorabili uscendo tra l'altro in doppia versione: un cd album a un solo componente e una "Collector's Edition" che racchiude un secondo cd ricco di tanti inediti e rarità.
"Radio Free Europe", "So. Central Rain", "The One I Love", "Can't Get There From Here", "Fall On Me", "Begin The Begin", "Finest Worksong" e naturalmente "It's The End Of The World" sono solo alcuni degli hits qui racchiusi che testimoniano come la band di Athens in quegli anni avesse raggiunto veri e propri apici di creatività.
Una vera antologia sia per i fan, ma consigliata soprattutto a chi si è avvicinato ai R.E.M. solo dagli anni 90 in poi.
Inoltre, come uscita complementare al best dei R.E.M., EMI Marketing pubblica anche il primo DVD (quasi tre ore di contenuti) con tutti i videoclip realizzati dalla band di Michael Stipe nel periodo che va dal 1982 al 1987.
Nello stesso sono incluse alcune esibizioni live, interviste, performance televisive, che fotografano il gruppo nel suo periodo creativamente migliore.
Negli anni ottanta la band è sempre stata riluttante ad apparire nei propri video, e i loro clip erano veri e propri cortometraggi dove musica e immagini si integravano alla perfezione. Un documento audiovisivo indispensabile a compendio della già nutrita discografia e videografia del gruppo.
