PJ Harvey Per le riviste inglesi è "Let England Shake" di Pj Harvey il miglior album del 2011 12/12/2011 di Francesco Donadio

E' dunque alfin arrivato il momento dell'anno in cui le riviste musicali tirano i conti e decretano quale è stato, a insindacabile giudizio dei propri redattori, il miglior album uscito negli ultimi 12 mesi. Come al solito, i primi (in anticipo di quasi un mese sulla chiusura dei giochi) a fornire le risultanze delle loro polls di fine anno sono stati i magazine britannici, che per una volta hanno concordato in toto sul trionfatore di questo 2011: sia per Mojo che per NME che anche per Uncut, infatti, il n.1 dell'anno è stato Let England Shake della rocker/songwriter del Dorset Pj Harvey, che ottiene anche una pregevole seconda posizione nella (meno autorevole) classifica del mensile Q, che ha invece preferito il controverso Ceremonials, secondo album di Florence e dei suoi The Machine. Ben piazzati in tutte le classifiche gli Horrors, i Wild Beasts, Kurt Vile e i Fleet Foxes. Emergono qua e là “sorprese” quali I Metronomy, Anna Calvi e Jonathan Wilson. E se la cavano con piazzamenti tutto sommato dignitosi anche vecchi volponi quali Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys e Tom Waits, i cui ultimi album non sono certo stati tra i migliori della loro carriera.
