Pulp Esce in autunno il "Brit Box", per non dimenticare 15 anni di indie-rock albionico 28/06/2007 di Fredo Cane

Uscirà il prossimo 2 ottobre un nuovo box-set formato da 4 CD della benemerita etichetta Rhino. Dopo gli indispensabili - in particolare - "Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era" e "Left Of The Dial: Dispatches From The '80s Underground", che documentavano rispettivamente le scene del garage-punk USA degli anni '60 e gli indipendenti degli anni '80, la Rhino sforna l'ennesima meraviglia intitolata "The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze and Brit-pop Gems of the Last Millennium", che getta uno sguardo d'insieme ai quindici anni di rock "indie" britannico a partire dal 1985 fino alla fine del millennio. Il "box" avrà la forma di una tipica cabina telefonica inglese e includerà un libro di circa 80 pagine comprensivo di saggi, interviste e reminiscenze da parte di Alan McGee, Stephen Street, Alan Moulder e artisti vari. Prezzo previsto: una settantina di euro.
Si tratta di un oggetto di grande interesse - e, a nostro avviso, decisamente irrinunciabile - in quanto, oltre a gruppi stranoti come The Smiths, Pulp, Oasis e Placebo, riporta alla luce brani di artisti oggi semidimenticati tra cui ad esempio quelli appartenenti alla scena cosiddetta C86 (Shop Assistants, Mighty Lemon Drops), e nomi minori dello shoegazing (Moose, The Telescopes) e del brit-pop (Marion, Rialto). In tutto, "The Brit Box" conterrà 78 brani di 78 gruppi spalmati su 4 CD.
