Iniziano a pervenire le tradizionali classifiche di fine anno sui migliori album della stagione che va a terminare; per il 2007, però, a differenza di altre annate che avevano visto uno o due album stagliarsi con evidenza sopra alla concorrenza, i primi giudizi pervenuti - quelli della trimurti di magazine britannici composta da Mojo, Uncut e Q - appaiono poco coincidenti come non mai.
Se i redattori di Mojo hanno votato per i Radiohead di "In Rainbows", quelli di Uncut hanno premiato gli LCD Soundsystem di "Sound Of Silver", mentre a casa Q le preferenze sono andate agli Arcade Fire di "Neon Bible".
I Radiohead sono al n.4 per Uncut e solo al 9 per Q, gli Arcade Fire ottengono un buon 2° posto per Mojo ma si classificano solo 21esimi per Uncut, mentre gli LCD Soundsystem coronati da Uncut, se per Mojo sono 5ti, per Q risultano appena 18esimi.
Univocità, insomma, non ce n'è, anche se emergono alcune linee di tendenza: tutte e tre le testate inseriscono infati nelle prime posizioni gli Arctic Monkeys di "Favourite Worst Nightmare", la PJ Harvey di "White Chalk", i White Stripes di "Icky Thump", il Bruce Springsteen di "Magic", i Good, The Bad & The Queen dell'album eponimo, i Kings Of Leon di "Because Of The Times" e i Klaxons di "Myths Of The Near Future" (quest'ultimo parzialmente snobbato solo da Q che gli riserva un non esaltante 32° posto).
