The White Stripes Sono di White Stripes e Radiohead gli album migliori del decennio, rispettivamente per Uncut e Pitchfork 2/10/2009 di Francesco Donadio

L’impressione, visto che mancano ancora 3 mesi alla fine del 2009, è che ci sia un’eccessiva fretta nel voler archiviare la decade in corso, ma evidentemente alcune testate hanno deciso di battere tutti sul tempo e hanno decretato fin d’ora quali sono stati a loro (insindacabile) opinione i migliori album dei cosiddetti "Anni Zero".

Il primo ad arrivare all’appuntamento è stato il mensile britannico Uncut, che nel numero in edicola questo mese rivela quali siano i 150 migliori album in base al giudizio dei propri redattori. E oggi stesso si unisce alla giostra di votazioni anche l’autorevole rivista on-line americana Pitchfork, i cui collaboratori hanno stilato una più estesa “Top 200 albums of the 2000s” (dopo aver votato un mese fa anche le “Top 500 Tracks” in una sfida all’ultimo sangue vinta dal singolo “B.O.B.” dei rapper sudisti Outkast).

Essendo assai dissimile il pubblico di riferimento delle due testate, anche le classifiche divergono notevolmente. Non mancano però i giudizi convergenti: “Kid A” dei Radiohead trionfa nella classifica di Pitchfork e arriva 25° in quella di Uncut; mentre “In Rainbows” appare rispettivamente al 21° e al 15° posto. “White Blood Cells” dei White Stripes, 1° per Uncut, è anche 12° per Pitchfork; “Funeral” degli Arcade Fire, 2° per Pitchfork, mantiene un’ottima 7a posizione per Uncut. Anche i Wilco risultano amati da entrambi i magazine: quarti con “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” per Pitchfork, terzi con “A Ghost Is Born” per Uncut (che inoltre concede a “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” la 35° posizione). Ben classificati anche gli Strokes dell’esordio, “Illinois” di Sufjan Stevens, “Sound Of Silver” degli LCD Soundsystem, “Merriweather Post Pavillion” degli Animal Collective, l’esordio eponimo dei Fleet Foxes, "For Emma, Forever Ago" di Bon Iver, "Original Pirate Material" di The Streets, “Geogaddi” dei Boards Of Canada e “Alligator” dei National, tutti presenti ai posti alti di entrambe le graduatorie.
