She ended her time in this life with the style and poetry that she lived all the days previous, crossing over while held in the arms of her closest and dearest. No words can encapsulate the unwaivering strength she provided, adversities she overcome, the talents she possessed & nutured, the sharpness of her wit nor the beautiful complexity of her intellect. We are so thankful for her influence and the gift of her friendship. A celebration of Natasha Shneider will be held in Hollywood at the Henry Fonda Theatre on Saturday, Aug 16th. Questo è il toccante messaggio scritto dal leader dei Queens Of The Stone Age sul sito ufficiale della band per ricordare la 52enne musicista russa (era nata a Mosca) scomparsa sconfitta da un cancro qualche giorno fa. La Shneider aveva fatto parte, come tastierista e cantante, dei QOTSA nell'era 'Lullabies To Paralize' insieme al marito Alain Johannes (anche ingegnere del suono e produttore su 'Era Vulgaris'). Non solo. Con il compagno e Jack Irons (ex RHCP) negli anni '90 aveva fondato a Los Angeles gli Eleven (cinque gli album realizzati). Quando erano solo dei ragazzi Johannes e Irons avevano militato in una formazione chiamata Anthym che poi avrebbe accolto Michael Balzary (Flea) e Hillel Slovak per ribattezarsi What Is This? (un EP all'attivo) e successivamente Red Hot Chili Peppers con l'avvento di Kiedis. Natasha Shneider aveva anche collaborato nel progetto numerato delle Desert Sessions oltre che partecipare allo sfortunato lavoro solista di Chris Cornell 'Euphoria Morning'. Un paio di film con ruoli secondari e qualche apparizione in celebri serie TV come "Miami Vice" e "Hill Street Blues". Nel 2004 il suo brano 'Who's In Control' viene inserito nella soundtrack del "Catwoman" cinematografico. Anche l'amico Troy Van Leeuwen lascia un ricordo commovente: "She was a brilliant, beautiful, and ballsy woman who will be missed deeply by all those who knew her. Send your loving thoughts her way in the universe."
