The Kinks L'ultraquarantennale carriera dei Kinks celebrata in un box set di 6 CD 21/11/2008 di Francesco Donadio

Continua ad apparire altamente improbabile una reunion dei leggendari Kinks, una delle più formidabili band dei swinging '60s britannici, ad una mera incollatura da Beatles e Rolling Stones per talento e influenza nel corso degli anni. Gli ostacoli, per una volta, non sono posti da Ray Davies, che si è detto di recente disposto a riattivare il gruppo, che giace dormiente dalla fine degli anni '80, ma da suo fratello Dave Davies che dopo aver quasi risolto i problemi legati all'ictus che lo colse nel 2004, ha dichiarato sul forum del suo sito web: "Ci sono molte cose da mettere in ordine prima che una riunione dei Kinks dal vivo o in studio possa avere luogo".

E allora, i fans dei Kinks si possono consolare con l'uscita programmata di "Picture Book", il primo box set retrospettivo (comprensivo di ben 6 CD) mai dedicato alla band di Muswell Hill, il prossimo 8 dicembre per l'etichetta Sanctuary.
Nel box set l'ultraquarantennale carriera dei Kinks sarà presentata cronologicamente, con l'ausilio di un booklet di oltre 60 pagine pieno zeppo di foto, interviste e saggi nuovi di zecca. I 6 CD conterranno 138 brani tra cui ovviamente quelli storici, ma anche una cospicua e attesissima selezione di unreleased, versioni alternate, rarità e versioni dal vivo.
